INTEGRAL COACHING/SPIRITUAL DIRECTION WITH MARK SCANDRETTE
One of the great joys of my life is walking with people as an integral coach/ spiritual director. I love supporting people in their self-awareness and growth. An empathetic bond with someone who is trained to listen, track and guide can be a powerful catalyst for change. From first hand experience I know how impactful it can be to have someone hold your story and help you discern how to move forward with your longings, questions and goals.
As you may know, there are a variety of approaches to coaching/ spiritual direction. My approach is goal focused, integral and holistic, meaning that I support people with an awareness of of factors including the spiritual, psychological, relational, somatic and practical. I am passionate about helping people respond to the insight they receive through commitment to specific actions and practices.
Some typical themes: discerning purpose, navigating a faith or life shift, facing obstacles to spiritual growth or leadership, establishing healthier relationships or life practices, etc. I use my knowledge of scripture, counseling psychology, spiritual formation, and the Enneagram typology to help my clients better understand their reality and take healthful steps. Increasingly, clients want to include neurodiversity as a factor in our conversations. Towards the end of each session, we mutually come up with a homework task, practice, or intention and then we check in on those steps during the first part of the following session.
I typically meet with clients once a month, but in certain instances, it’s helpful to meet more often. After an initial 3-6 sessions, we’ll check in to see if the arrangement is still working for both of us. We’ll keep moving forward if you are finding it helpful and getting the results you want.
My wife Lisa and I occasionally provide coaching to couples (based on principles from our book, Belonging and Becoming: Creating A Thriving Family Culture).
As a spiritual director/coach, I am obligated to maintain confidentiality with my clients and keep private all information disclosed to me in sessions. However, as a mandated reporter, there are specific circumstances where I am legally and ethically required to share information if child abuse, elder abuse, or risk to self or others is suspected.
I offer spiritual direction/coaching on a sliding scale basis, meaning that you choose an amount that fits your financial situation ($75-$175/ £57-£130/ per session). Scholarship rates are available on request. Sessions usually go 60-75 minutes and can be done on Zoom or in person. If we go past 75 minutes, I will pause the conversation, and we will decide together whether to continue and if additional payment is required. I follow up with a Stripe invoice, session summary, journal prompts, practice suggestions, and links to other resources. Currently, I’m using Fathom AI to take session notes, and you’ll receive a summary immediately after the session. If you have concerns about privacy and AI, we can do the session without the note-taker.
Please let me know at least 48 hours in advance if you need to reschedule. Same-day cancellations and no-shows will be billed at the session rate (with a measure of grace for extenuating circumstances).
