Mark is a gifted communicator who draws on his knowledge of Christian theology and scripture, human psychology and 25 years lived experience as a seeker and formation guide, with an awareness of the beauty, challenges and complexity of the human condition.

Mark travels and teaches with the goal of inspiring and training groups to take new life-giving steps of action. He speaks regionally, nationally and internationally at universities, conferences and churches and offers training to leaders and organizations through workshops, retreats and group intensives. Mark often speaks on themes from his books and on spiritual formation, social justice and the essential message of Jesus. He teaches a doctoral course on spiritual formation at Fuller Theological seminary and has taught courses at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Church Divinity School of the Pacific.

Mark and Lisa lead workshops and retreats together on themes from FREE and BELONGING and BECOMING.

Groups that invite Mark to speak can receive a 50% publisher discount on any books purchased for the event. He often partners with COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL, who cover a significant portion of his time and travel costs when there is an opportunity to present the invitation to child sponsorship. To maximize time, resource and impact, Mark often books multiple events in a particular city or region. See our calendar page for a list of upcoming dates and cities.
