This year at the National Youth Ministry Weekend we are creating a fantastic opportunity to start your event journey early by reconnecting to the call of Jesus that underpins our work and our life.

In addition to the main weekend, this year we’re hosting a Retreat Day with the phenomenal Mark Scandrette, who has been developing experimental and contemplative Christian practices for two decades.

So many of us want to live in the way of Jesus—pursuing a life that is deeply soulful, connected to real needs and good news to our world. Yet too often our methods of spiritual formation are individualistic, information driven or disconnected from the details of every day life. If Jesus of Nazareth demonstrated and taught a revolutionary way of love that is actually possible, alive with healing and hope, then we need a path for experiencing that revolution in the details of our every day lives. Perhaps what we need is more like a karate studio than a college lecture, shared spaces where we can take new risks to practice the way of Jesus together.  Mark Scandrette

Come to the NYMW early, and take some risks that will allow you to more actively put the teachings of Christ into the heart of your own walk and work.

In this one day workshop retreat we will:

  • Consider how the gospel compels us to take new risks.

  • Engage the dynamics of group experiments through hands on learning.

  • Explore how to integrate group experiments and practices in your life and youth work.

The day will run from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

It is a full programme that will flow throughout this time based on Mark’s book Practicing the Way of Jesus, Life Together in the Kingdom of Love.

Tickets for this stand-alone event are £38 for the day including lunch, refreshments and a copy of Practicing the Way of Jesus: Life Together in the Kingdom of Love.
