Upcoming Learning Lab & Retreat
Awakening Creativity
Exploring the hidden story of your life
Do you aspire to be more creative? Since ancient times spiritual seekers have expressed their longings through poetry, art and song—and the artist often encounters the divine through their work. Many have observed the vital link between creativity, personal spirituality and transformation. This six-week Learning Lab will explore how to integrate creativity, theology and personal narrative. A final show featuring the creative work of participants will occur on Friday February 13 from 7-10 P.M.

A silent prayer retreat
Jesus came proclaiming union with God, the seed of life planted in us. The practice of prayer aids us in removing the layers that cover up this reality and help us move toward finding the life breath of God within us. Prayer is not merely the utterance of words or petitions. It is life with God in everything we do. Through new experiences, information and reflection we are able to awaken the dormant pulse of God that resides within. This will be a facilitated retreat during which participants practice different disciplines of contemplative prayer. If you are looking for a time to practice silence and create space within please join us. We are looking forward to creating an environment in which we can enter the presence of our Creator.
Dates: Feb. 20 - 22, 2009
Cost: $100 (includes breakfast, lunch, & dinner on Saturday, breakfast & lunch on Sunday, snacks and lodging.)
Location: A private cabin within 3 hours of San Francisco
The Great Giveaway
What: A sidewalk sale. All proceeds to benefit water projects in developing nations.
When: Black Friday, Nov 28 10am - 1pm
Where: 455 Dolores St (btwn 17th & 18th)
The day after Thanksgiving, "Black Friday," is thought to be the
busiest shopping day of the year. Millions of people spend billions of
dollars, often waiting in line at stores for days and fighting their
fellow shoppers for the newest gadget. This compulsion to shop and fill
our lives with more stuff is a reality deeply rooted in the American
dream. In the midst of this pressure to buy and have more, the Creator
is inviting us into a life of simplicity, to make His dreams our own,
to live into a reality radically different from the one being offered
to us everyday. This way of living is rooted in a deep sense of
contentment and gratefulness in the abundance of the Creator's
provision for life and can begin to become a reality as we take
intentional steps of simplicity in our own lives. As a culmination to
the learning lab SIMPLIFY, we will be having the Great Giveaway, a time
of celebration where we will be selling/giving away some of our
possessions and giving the money toward building wells in impoverished
nations. If you would like to join us or just check it out, come by 455 Dolores St (between 17th and 18th) on Friday
November 28th from 10:00-1:00.
